Delightful Afternoon Tea Recipes You Can Easily Make at Home
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Use your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the buttermilk and stir until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a circle about 1-inch thick.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 8 equal triangles.
- Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

- 12 slices white bread, thinly sliced

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Use your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg yolk and water and stir until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
- Form the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a 12-inch circle.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and trim the edges.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool completely before filling.
